Georgia Merrill was six years old when she founded The Peach Project.
Georgia was in Manchester NH with her grandmother when she saw a homeless person holding up a sign saying he was hungry and that he needed food. The notion that basic necessity could be inaccessible precisely when desired struck her profoundly. Once reason and circumstances was explained and understood, there existed no doubt that she was destined to address this issue.
Feed the 603!
Since that very first year it has been her mission to fight food insecurity in NH, Feed the 603! It has also been the mission of the project to provide children an opportunity to be impactful and give back to their communities. They are responsible for the change they want and need in their futures.
Together with so many children and families, local businesses, and community members, The Peach Project has made a real difference in NH feeding the food insecure, Georgia’s charity of choice. Starting in 2014, Georgia Merrill has led The Peach Project down the fundraising trail in hopes of combating food insecurity in NH. Starting this project at the age of 6, together with hundreds of participants, volunteers, and sponsors over the past eight years, the project has raised over $86,000!
Be a part of our project as we jingle and merry our way to $100,000.00 total raised this year!
Fundraising
The Peach Project's fundraising efforts have spanned multiple revenue-raising methods. In its humble beginnings, it started by raising awareness on social media and grew from there, encompassing everything from selling homemade peach BBQ sauce and button bracelets across the country, to full-on theatrical productions with plays, choruses, and hundreds of local children participating to the most popular of all efforts, the holiday stroll. Last year’s stroll had close to 3,000 attendees and raised just over $21,000!
This December we will be hosting our “Fifth Annual Holiday Stroll”. Every year, these fundraisers are gaining more momentum, getting more attention, and, most importantly, feeding more hungry people in NH. The success of The Peach Project is not without the help of many volunteers, sponsors, donations, local businesses, and families. It is full of generosity, kindness, and heart. It has become a beloved community event that brings many together to feed the 603! We are eternally grateful for the encouragement and support from our community year after year.
